Solar Mini-Grid Initiatives
Brit Bangla Trade Initiatives Ltd. operates a solar mini-grid in Fozlupur, Fulchari Upazila, Gaibandha District, Bangladesh. The union is home to nearly 100,000 people, all of whom were previously without access to electricity.
In 2018, a 249.6 kWp solar mini-grid was launched, providing electricity to approximately 30,000 people in the area, and replacing the use of oil lamps and other inefficient lighting sources. This initiative has also fostered self-employment opportunities and has helped those affected by climate change gain a reliable source of livelihood through access to solar electricity..
